About our teams
Interested in playing American Football in Swindon? You’ve come to the right place. Storm is committed to being an inclusive club where everyone can feel at home. Whether you excel as a strong-armed quarterback, a solid center, or a speedy running back, there’s a spot for you on one of our teams.
Our Adult, Under 19s, and Under 16s teams participate in the British American Football Contact Leagues. Our Women’s team, established in 2021, currently engages in friendly scrimmages with other teams but aims to grow its player base to compete in the National League, the NWFL.

Adults team
Our longest established team, Swindon Storm Adults play full contact in Division 2 of the oldest continuous American Football league in Britain.
Women's team
Our steadily growing women’s team first formed in April 2021, and offers 7v7 Contact American Football for women aged 16+.
Under 19s
The Storm’s Under 19s team competes in 7v7 contact football, serving as a stepping stone between youth and adult games. It’s open to anyone over 16 on 31st August of the year prior to the season.
Under 16s team
A well respected team in the BAFA National League, our Under 16s play 5v5 contact American Football and are always on the lookout for new recruits who are 13 or over.
who's in charge?
Our Committee
We’re lucky to have a group of dedicated volunteers who help us run our organization. Some of them are current players, some are coaches, and some are fans or parents of our youth players. They’re all fantastic and we couldn’t do it without them. If you’re interested, you can find more information about our wonderful committee right here.
Chair
Matthew, known as ‘Vatch’ around the club, has been with the club since 2020. He previously played in the early 2000’s before taking a long break with family and work commitments before joining Storm in 2020, with the first year missed due to COVID.
He currently plays on the Offensive Line.
Matthew was voted in as the club chairperson at the AGM in October 2022.

Secretary
Angela started watching the adult team in 2016 and then joined the club in 2019. She played a big role in the formation of the women’s team in 2020, playing their first-ever scrimmage in October 2021. Angela has been club secretary since November 2021.

Treasurer
John joined the adult team in 2014 and coaches the under 16s, under 19s and the adult team. He was elected treasurer for both the adult team and under 16s and has helped progress the team by obtaining grants from various sources. John is also responsible for maintaining the club’s membership details and ensuring that subscriptions are up to date.
