Storm Under 16

About Us

A Journey to success

American football is a sport that requires teamwork, dedication, and a strong work ethic. As a member of Swindon Storm, you will have the opportunity to not only improve your skills on the field, but also to build lasting relationships with your teammates. We pride ourselves on creating a supportive and accepting environment, where everyone is welcome regardless of their background or experience level.

Our team participates in the British American Football Under 16 Contact League as well as pre and post season games, providing plenty of opportunities for you to showcase your talents and represent Swindon Storm. We train on Saturday mornings, with additional training sessions built into the week as we approach tournament season.

Swindon Storm’s Under 16 team has been making waves in the national league for several years now. Their impressive performance during the 2023 season led them to earn the rank of #6 in the country. Following an outstanding season, we reached the BAFA Under 16 Championship Plate Final, having previously won the South West Division title.

coach's Welcome

A Word from our Head coach

Head Coach of our youth teams, Andy Duff, joined the club in 2014 when his son started playing for the under 16s. He later became the Youth Teams Head Coach, where he focused on developing players not only in their skills but also as individuals. Andy has a sporting background and represented Zimbabwe in cycling, qualifying for the Commonwealth games in 1998.

Hi, I’m Andy and I have been involved with Swindon Storm since 2014. After a couple of years of helping out on game days, I started coaching the offense when my youngest son then started to play.

In 2020, I became head coach of the U16 team and had the challenge of helping the team survive COVID lockdowns. Thankfully, we did just that and the team has gone from strength to strength every year, with the U16s reaching the National Finals in 2023.

In 2024, the U19 team looks set to enter the league for the first time, with the vast majority of players in the team building on their experience playing for the U16s It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate our progression as an organisation and to continue building momentum for the future.

I am excited about the team’s ongoing progress and we warmly welcome new players to squad all year round.
