Storm Under 19
About Us
A team of our own

Our Under 19s team is the newest addition to Swindon Storm American Football Club. Originally founded as the Thames Valley Tigers through a partnership with Berkshire Renegades, Swindon Storm Under 19s is now a thriving and passionate team of young players.
The team provides a platform for talented individuals to develop their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while competing in the British American Football Association National Leagues. Coached by dedicated professionals, the Swindon Storm under 19s team offers a supportive and inclusive environment for players to excel both on and off the field.
With a focus on fostering a love for the game and promoting a healthy lifestyle, we welcome players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes.
Through regular training sessions and a calendar of competitive games, the team aims to not only achieve success on the field but also instill valuable life lessons such as discipline, resilience, but to inspire young people to pursue their passion for sport while building lifelong friendships.
In the 2024 season, the U19s will be competing in 7v7 games in the BAFA U19 Division 2 South league.
About Us
A Word from our Head coach
Head Coach of our youth teams, Andy Duff, joined the club in 2014 when his son started playing for the under 16s. He later became the Youth Teams Head Coach, where he focused on developing players not only in their skills but also as individuals. Andy has a sporting background and represented Zimbabwe in cycling, qualifying for the Commonwealth games in 1998.
Hi, I’m Andy and I have been involved with Swindon Storm since 2014. After a couple of years of helping out on game days, I started coaching the offense when my youngest son then started to play.
In 2020, I became head coach of the U16 team and had the challenge of helping the team survive COVID lockdowns. Thankfully, we did just that and the team has gone from strength to strength every year, with the U16s reaching the National Finals in 2023.
In 2024, the U19 team looks set to enter the league for the first time, with the vast majority of players in the team building on their experience playing for the U16s It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate our progression as an organisation and to continue building momentum for the future.
I am excited about the team’s ongoing progress and we warmly welcome new players to squad all year round.

We build in extra training as the tournament season approaches, including physical conditioning sessions to ensure all our players are on top form to do us proud.
We start pre-season friendly games before the official BAFA U19 tournament begins and may also play some late, post-season games, too.
